About us

Our Mission

It is the mission of the Vera Cruz Fire Department to protect the lives and property of the residents of Upper Milford Township and surrounding Communities by providing the highest quality fire suppression and rescue services. We will continue to seek new opportunities to serve our neighbors and to strive for excellence in the services we provide, through continued education and training.

The Citizen’s Fire Company, commonly referred to as the Vera Cruz Fire Department, along with our sister department, Upper Milford Western District, commonly known as the Old Zionsville Fire Company, protect approximately 18 square miles and a population of over 7,000. We also provide 15 miles of fire protection to the Northeast extension of the Pennsylvania turnpike (we are located right at mile marker 50.3) and both of our departments provide mutual aid assistance to all neighboring communities.

The Vera Cruz Fire Company is a 100% volunteer fire company that was founded in 1942. Currently we have 26 active volunteer firefighters and fire police. Last year we responded to 208 calls and put in over 250 hours dedicated to fire calls. In addition to responding to emergencies we also have to hold fundraisers to raise money. Our funding sources include a yearly mailing campaign, various drawings, support from the Vera Cruz Community Association and the Ladies Auxiliary.
